Employee Satisfaction Remains High
The 2010 Employee Opinion Survey revealed that employees have a strong sense of loyalty to Duke Energy, and hold a positive view of the company’s mission and purpose. Some employees, however, feel that management should provide additional insight into the company’s direction, and that more can be done to foster trust.
The annual assessment paints a picture of employee attitudes on issues such as Duke Energy’s goals, work environment, performance rewards, engagement, ethics and compliance, and vision and values. More than 12,000 employees — about 66 percent of the workforce — took part in the June 2010 survey.
General Observations
- Positive responses to most questions declined slightly compared to 2009 results. However, favorable responses were high compared to surveys before 2009.
- The company maintained the progress made in 2009 on questions related to rewarding performance.
- Questions on engagement and on ethics and compliance received the highest level of positive responses, while questions dealing with vision and values received the lowest.
Company leaders are using the survey results to map out plans for their particular business areas and the company as a whole.
